We are very excited for this this year’s 10th anaversary of SoCal’s best organized road ride.
For anyone who has ever ridden the Tour (and even some who haven’t) everyone knows about it’s legendary Aid Stations! Bacon and Eggs, BB-Q’ed Ribs (yes you read that right, ribs!), the world’s best homemade granola bars from the Copper-Q, and pop-cycles (sorry, I just had too) are only a few of the delicious treats you’ll enjoy along the way. Plus, you’ll get all of the usual hydration and nutrition items. As you all know The W!N Group is full of foodies, so we’ll be posting the complete list of Aid Stations – and their menus – in the coming weeks.
And after the ride, come hang in The W!N Group’s own world famous PUB-33! You can’t miss it, located in the Beer Garden right in the Expo area. We are excited that for the Pub’s 3rd anniversary the Beer Garden will have a tasty assortment of beer from California’s own Sierra Nevada Beer!
Pub-33 will have all the couches, pub tables, and pub chairs you love, and this year we’ll also have a mister system set up so it really will be the coolest place at the Tour. Come see us – as always, we’ll be in our VIP corner, but we’re not shy about people hanging with us. The Beer Garden will be open Friday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and we’ll have Pub-33 set up for fun Saturday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Once again this year The W!N Group will have its popular free photo booth. Come over and get your picture with the carved wood bear in front of a red-carpet style Tour de Big Bear backdrop. Bring the gang because there’s room for everyone to be in a picture. Our booth will also have a popcorn machine and the opportunity to win some cool swag. Don’t miss it!
There will be great evens all weekend. The Tour organizer, The Big Bear Cycling Association hosts a two-day cycling expo that includes 40+ cycling vendors, a complimentary bike valet for registered riders, entry into the Sierra Nevada Beer Garden (and Pub-33), participation in Big Bear Cycling Association’s famous raffle, and live entertainment during Saturday’s festivities.
New this year is a Glow Ride, which will be fun for the whole family So, bust out those costumes glow sticks, and lights and parade down Pine Knot Avenue and Big Bear Blvd! It will be at 8:00 pm on Thursday, meeting at the corner of Pine Knot and Village Drive.
This year will also have the best Poker Ride ever. The Tour de Big Bear Poker Ride will go around the lake, with multiple stops to pick up cards to make the best poker hand. This is an easy warm up ride for the Tour. By popular demand, this year there will be two rides, one leaving at 4:00 pm, and one leaving at 6:00 pm. Meet up at the corner of Pine Knot and Village Drive at your preferred time.
This year the Tour de Big Bear has six route options:
The brand new 10th Anniversary Tour de Big Bear 10k Fun Ride. Start time in the Village is 9:00 am.
The Tour de Big Bear – 25 miles –with 1,300 feet of climbing. Start time in the Village is 8:30 am.
The Big Bear Valley Tour – 50 miles – with 3,700 feet of climbing. Start time in the Village is 8:00 am.
The The Grand Tour – 70 miles –with 5,600 feet of climbing. Start time in the Village is 7:30 am.
The Climb – 106 miles –with 9,550 feet of challenging climbing. Start time in the Village is 7:15 am.
The Gran Fondo – 109 miles – with 10,000 feet of climbing, Start time in the Village is 7:00 am.
We like the 25 mile and 50 mile routes so we can eat lots of bacon & eggs and ribs and treats along the way – because you know we’re foodies – but if you are up for the challenge, the longer routes are awesome too.
The Tour de Big Bear Check-In will be from on Friday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Expo at the corner of Pine Knot and Village Drive, and for the lolly-gaggers, there will be a late check-in on Saturday morning from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.
